B-BAD 3

Andy Topliffe

Saturday 23rd February saw B-BAD 3 at Elite Combat Gym in Leicester. After being let down badly by our lift we jumped on the train and headed off and following a nightmare journey arrived at the venue just in time. A definite step up from Andy Topliffe's point of view with the show being held in a superb gym with a ring for the fights this time, it looked like things were going right for Andy. Afraid not. I know Andy and Claire have worked hard getting this show together things being made harder by the fact there is a limited pool of fighters too draw from. It is not unusual for cage fighting shows to have boxing or K1 on the card as this makes things slightly easier to get a full show together but even despite this fighters letting you down at the last second is a problem faced across the board. Andy had been let down badly by fighters and I felt for him as he explained to the gathered crowd knowing the work he had put in.

On the plus side there was a good crowd and with James Quinn and Dave Courtney bolstering the numbers, James having travelled down from Newcastle and Dave up from London, this gave the crowd something to do while waiting for the show to start getting photographs and autographs.

BKB Title holder James "Gypsy Boy" McCrory was in attendance despite having been let down at the last second by "Chopper" Reid and it was good to see Seth Jones & Matt Thorn again having first met them at B-BAD 2.

A couple of new guys stepped up to the plate with Josh Mundy stopping Matt in the first round and Ross Chittock loosing after an epic battle against Seth Jones in the second. Seth Jones is an experienced fighter and will be fighting against James McCrory in the future for the title and Ross can certainly hold his head high stepping up to the plate and fighting at the last minute in what was his first BKB fight. I think he got the respect of the gathered crowd I know he certainly got mine and Dan's.

It was a shame Clare Monaghan couldn't make it, it would have been nice to catch up, but by the end of the day we had acquired interviews with Promoter Andy Topliffe, Matt Thorn, James Quinn, Dave Courtney & Andy Topliffe collectively and fights between Seth Jones & Ross Chittock and Matt Thorn & Josh Mundy.
B-BAD are holding their 4th show in April and this is the place to keep your eye on for what will be happening and when.

B-BAD can be found at http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/BKBAD  for information about Bare Knuckle Boxing or too fight on the show and if you happen to be in the Leicester area and are looking for a gym to train at you could take a look at Elite Combat's Gym
